Bloomfield Mission.

In 1887, the Lutheran Church of Australia established a mission at Bloomfield, south of Cooktown. When it closed in 1901 many aboriginal Australians were transferred to the mission at Hope Valley. In 1957 the Lutheran Church resumed mission work at Bloomfield. In 1970 the mission name was changed to Wujal Wujal. Some records exist at the Lutheran Archives in Adelaide, SA but more are held at the office of the Far North Queensland Lutheran Mission. From the description of Corresponden...

Rev. Joseph King served in Samoa, 1863-1872. Rev. Harry Dauncey settled at Port Moresby in 1888, and Delena, 1893. Rev. Archibald Hunt was appointed to Samoa, 1890, and worked in Port Moresby, from 1894 to 1902. Rev. John Holmes settled at Orokolo, Papua, in 1897, in 1904 was at the Purari Delta, Papua and settled at Urika in 1906. Rev.
